A GRUELLING charity row from Connah’s Quay to Chester is set to take place next week.

The annual charity row has been organised by Ray Woolley and his fellow members on the Deeside Volunteers Committee with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.

Mr Woolley has been organising fundraising events for the cancer charity for nearly 50 years, after sadly losing his brother to the disease early on in life.

Mr Woolley said: “I lost my older brother to cancer when I was younger, and that’s why I started getting involved with fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

“This charity row will be in my brother’s memory as well as for the several friends I’ve lost over the last year.

“We’re trying to raise as much money as we can before handing over a cheque to the charity after our row. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far.”

Rowers will be setting off from the Connah’s Quay Dock at 12.50pm on Sunday, August 4 before arriving at Chester Riverside at around 2pm.

Live entertainment will then be available for people to enjoy at the Hare and Hounds pub on the Connah’s Quay Dock, with everyone welcome to attend.
