A FLINTSHIRE primary school held a summer fair with an emphasis on preserving the eco-system.
Nercwys Primary School held an 'eco fair' on July 13, with all apparatus being plastic free.
The school has just retained its eco-schools platinum award, and lived up to its billing with the nature of its summer fair.
The event included beeswax wraps - a cling film alternative - for food wrapping, the sale of reusable soap nets, and all the traditional stalls of the fair - non of which included the use of plastic.
And the school's recent retention of its platinum eco-school award is to mark being awarded the Green Flag four times – demonstrating their long-term commitment to environmental education, student involvement and sustainability.
To attain Green Flag status, the school was visited by an Eco-Schools Assessor who checks whether the school meets the required criteria.
As well as this, Nercwys Primary is aiming to become Flintshire's first plastic-free school.
