A MOTHER has expressed her disgust to discover discarded needles and syringes around a Wrexham school field.

The Caia Park resident who wished not to be named, took to social media to vent her frustration after her brother had sent her images of the paraphernalia being left around the Ysgol Morgan Llwyd field.

The images show needles being left stuck in trees and several used syringes being left scattered across the ground.

Speaking to The Leader, she said: “Ysgol Morgan Llwyd is a lovely walking area in Wrexham, and it’s disgusting and revolting that people can leave it in such a state.

“I often like to take my kids down there, whether it be to play football or just go for a walk, they love it down there, and I don’t want them to have to see syringes and needles being left all over the place.

“There’s lots of danger that can come from that, adults can easily step on them, children can step our fall on them as well, dogs could stand on them or pick them up, it’s truly horrible.

The resident went on to add that the discovery has made her think twice about ever taking her kids there again.

She added: “When you see things like that, it makes you weary about ever going there yourself again, let alone taking your kids there.

The Leader:

“They really love to walk down there as well so it would be a real shame to not go there again but what can you do, knowing that things like that are happening?

“It’s scary, really. It’s worrying that people will do things like that for a start, but to think that they’re willing to leave it all there, no regard for anyone else.

“I understand that everywhere in the UK has people who do drugs but it’s just shocking that people would leave it all scattered everywhere, some people just have no regard for nature.

“The thing is though, people will do what they do, these people will continue to do this sort of thing and nobody can stop them.

“What is the solution? I’m not sure there is one.”

A spokesman for Wrexham Council said: “The maintenance of school grounds is the responsibility of individual schools, who will have arrangements in place to monitor grounds during the summer holidays.

“Any members of the public who finds needles or similar paraphernalia in a public place may report them online, or via the Street Scene number 01978 298989.”
