A TALENTED dance group from Ellesmere Port is on cloud nine after performing at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The team of 14 girls and two boys, from Evolution Dance Academy, was one of just a handful chosen to perform a televised routine on the grid before the race on July 14.

To qualify, teacher Jamie Lee Evans had to film them busting out their moves and sent the video off to the judges, who were clearly impressed.

The group performed as part of a 200-strong ensemble and also had full VIP access meaning they mingled with the likes of race winner Lewis Hamilton and other celebrities.

Sarah Astbury, whose 16-year-old daughter Jess took part, said the whole experience was amazing and the group had already been invited back.

She told The Standard: “From start to finish they had an amazing day where they rubbed shoulders with Lewis Hamilton, David Beckham, Phillip Schofield and Liam Gallagher and members of the Royal family to name just a few.

“They were all treated as VIPs for the day and got a track-side view of the race.

“Jamie was bursting with pride with the other chaperones Kerry and Chris on the starting grid – she had tears of joy!”

Evolution Dance Academy is holding a special event at the Hammond School in Chester on August 17 for any dancer over the age of eight.

It is also looking to recruit a new teacher and always welcomes new members. For more information email Evolutiondanceacademy2018@gmail.com or call 07780 467843.
