A NEW support group for people who suffer with anxiety and depression is holding several events over the coming weeks.

S.M.I.L.E (Supportive Mates In Life Exist) is holding a fun day at the Waggon & Horses pub in Blacon on Saturday (July 20) and another at Graham Road on Saturday, August 3.

It will also be attending Chester Pride on August 10 and will hold its open day on September 10.

The group meets every Tuesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Rowland Heights on Francis Street, Chester.

Sam Ferris, group chair and volunteer, said: "We chat have tea or coffee, do crafts and other activities as well as organizing events. It is a welcoming place and a caring environment."

She added: "When you join you will find you are not alone, you will have friends that understand. Come along don’t be alone, with help and understanding you can get a break from your thoughts, whether that be chatting online or in the group sessions.

"We are there to help; we have all been there. S.M.I.L.E is comfy security blanket to keep you warm."
