A GROUP of young dancers from Ellesmere Port will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastien Vettel at the British Grand Prix on Sunday.

The talented team, from Evolution Dance Academy, were one of just a handful chosen to perform a televised routine on the grid before the race at Silverstone.

To qualify, teacher Jamie Lee Evans had to film her students strutting their stuff and sent the video off to the judges, who were clearly impressed.

The group of 14 girls and two boys will perform as part of a 200-strong ensemble – and have full VIP access.

Sarah Astbury, whose 16-year-old daughter Jess is taking part, told The Standard: “They’re all really excited and they’re hoping to meet the teams and drivers. There’s meant to be a lot of A-listers there too!

“They’ve done amazingly well - we're so proud. They went to a three-day training camp in Essex recently where they were put through their paces learning the routine they will have to perform.

“There are going to be a lot of people watching!”

Sarah said that sadly she had not been able to get a ticket herself but she and the other parents would be watching on TV in a nearby pub.

"It could be worse!" she joked.
