TWELVE people have been arrested in a hotel after fighting erupted between around 50 guests at a wedding.

Cheshire Police were called to the Daresbury Park Hotel late last night, Wednesday, following reports of a large-scale disturbance.

Wedding party members allegedly barricaded themselves inside the function room at the Chester Road site when police attended at around 11.30pm.

Dozens of officers were called to the scene, with eyewitnesses reporting seeing around 30 police cars at the scene.

A total of 12 people aged between 18 and 52 were arrested on suspicion of affray, and remain in police custody.

Warrington Hospital declared a major incident following the incident, with senior management called in during the night to assist.

But only three patients were taken to hospital, having suffered minor injuries.

Police remain on scene at the Daresbury Park Hotel this morning, with areas of the facility still cordoned off.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to a large-scale disturbance at a hotel on Chester Road at 11.25pm on Wednesday 26 June.

“Twelve people, aged between 18 and 52, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and are currently in police custody.

“There were no reports of any serious injuries.

“Police remain at the scene of the incident.”

One hotel guest described the terrifying scenes on the premises last night.

He said: “It was all kicking off – there were police everywhere, it was really bad.

“I could see it all happening out of my window, there’s still a massive police presence and it’s all cordoned off.

“There is blood all over the floor in the corridor.”

Britannia Hotels, which runs the Daresbury Park Hotel, has declined to comment on the matter.
