PASSENGERS are being warned to expect cancellations after a train broke down at Birkenhead Central.
Rail services on the Chester and Ellesmere Port Lines have been suspended between Rock Ferry and Liverpool after a train broke down at Birkenhead Central.
A replacement bus service is now in place between Hamilton Square and Rock Ferry.
Passengers are being urged to use the New Brighton and West Kirby services to travel to Liverpool and Hamilton Square.
The rail operator says the disruption is expected to last until 3pm today (Thursday, June 27).

A statement on the Merseyrail website said: "Owing to a broken down train at Birkenhead Central that can only be moved by a specialist team, services on the Chester and Ellesmere Port Line will be suspended between Rock ferry and Liverpool until further notice.
"A replacement bus service is operating between Hamilton Square and Rock Ferry and customers are being advised to utilise New Brighton and West Kirby services to travel between Liverpool stations and Hamilton Square.
"If you have been affected by today's incident you may be entitled to a refund or compensation.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."
