FEMALE pub-goers can learn all about the perfect pint at a ladies-only brewery tour.

Frodsham pub The Ring O’Bells is organising an all-female brewery tour at a family-owned brewery which produces some of the pub’s most popular pints.

Anticipation is brewing for the tour which was first held last year when the male drinkers in the pub joked that women don’t know anything about beer.

Philip Miller, landlord at the Bellemonte Road pub, said: “We launched the tour last year when some of our male customers joked that the women didn’t know the first thing about beer and should stick to gin and tonic.

“We decided we’d teach the men a lesson and organised our own ladies-only brewery tour, which was the brewery’s first ever all-female tour in its almost 200 year history.

"It was a huge success, so we’re bringing it back again this year."

He added: “JW Lees Bitter is among our most popular pints, so it’s a great opportunity to find out exactly how it’s made and get a real insight into where the perfect pint comes from.”

JW Lees is a family brewery based near Oldham in Greater Manchester. It was founded in 1828 by retired cotton manufacturer John Lees.

The tour takes place on Tuesday, July 2 and tickets cost £10 including return coach travel, buffet and all you can drink beer.

The Ring O’Bells, which was last year named JW Lees Pub of the Year, is also organising a men’s brewery tour on Tuesday, July 30.
