A YOUNG hairdresser at an Ellesmere Port salon has proved she is at the cutting edge after making it to the shortlist for a top national award.

Charlotte Roberts of The Boutique Atelier, Underwood Drive, has earned a place on the 2019 shortlist of the hairdressing awards The It List.

Charlotte has been shortlisted in the 'It Girl' category.

Richard Phillipart, owner at the Boutique Atelier, said: “Charlotte is one of five woman under 30 who have been shortlisted for the prestigious award which has been judged on their contribution to the hairdressing industry over the last 12 months.

"With award wins already under her belt and education workshops taught across the UK and Ireland as well as magazine features and stage presentations, we think Charlotte’s 2018/19 work speak for itself.

"The black tie awards dinner is held in London in September, keep your fingers crossed she brings home the trophy!”

The awards shine a spotlight on the brightest, most ambitious and creative new British and Irish talents aged 30 and under.

Now in its 10th year, The It List – presented by industry publication Creative HEAD and sponsored by GHD – is a rewarding competition for young British hairdressers.

Charlotte will be joining a star-studded, 700-strong guest list at The It List Grand Final at London’s Printworks on Monday, September 2 to discover if they will take home the title.

The winner of The IT GIRL will receive an It List trophy, an exclusive GHD workshop experience and 12 months of profile-projecting coverage in Creative HEAD in print and online.

Past winners include The Boutique Atelier salon owner and Charlotte's mentor Richard Phillipart, who has two 'IT LIst' awards to his name and has gone on to shoot with high-profile magazines, become an ambassador for global brands, leads hair teams at London Fashion Week and has been signed by a top talent agency which has him travelling across the world, teaching hairdressing in counties as far afield as Canada and Dubai.

Since completing her colour specialist degree with L’Oreal Professional, Charlotte won a place on The Innovation Team, one of 10 hairdressers from the UK and Ireland at the forefront of up and coming trends and techniques with all things colour.

Charlotte was also named the number one in the UK by L’Oreal professional for the colour trophy Mens Image award 2018.

She said: “I knew it was the right time for me to enter the awards, I worked so hard on my entry and couldn’t be happier that I am shortlisted.”

Creative HEAD editor Amanda Nottage said: “There’s quite literally nothing else like The It List to shine a spotlight on tomorrow’s talent, young names recognised and respected by a truly A-list calibre of judges.

"Get on The It list, and your career will transform beyond recognition.”
