TRIBUTES have been paid to a "kind and loving" family man who died in a four-car crash on the A55 near Chester.

Derek Davies, 81, from Wrexham, received treatment at the scene of the collision near the Posthouse Roundabout at 11.35pm on Sunday (June 9) but sadly passed away.

In a statement, his family said: “Derek was a kind and loving husband, brother, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

“The family would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public for their help during this incident and ask for respect at this difficult time.”

Police are still urging anyone with information about the crash or dashcam footage to contact them.

The vehicles - a Vauxhall Corsa, Toyota Avensis and a Ford Focus Zetec - came to a rest in the central reservation while a Subaru Legacy collided with debris, coming to a stop further down the carriageway.

Mr Davies has been behind the wheel of the Corsa.
