A SPECIAL community funday for a single mum and her two little girls was a great success at the weekend.

Single mum Kayleighanne Thomas, 29, of Ellesmere Port, is about to come to the end of her chemotherapy treatment for cervical cancer at Clatterbridge Hospital in Wirral this month.

She and her family have been told that her illness is terminal and Saturday's funday at Rake Hall, Little Stanney, was organised to give her and her family some special memories.

Her family were worried Kayleighanne may have been too ill to attend the day, but fortunately she was able to enjoy the day with her daughters Maddison and Esme, aged eight and four.

Kayleight's mum Paula said: "We've had lovely day. The Sun shone and plenty people came out and spent money and donated."

Paula added that the family wanted to thank Ellesmere Port Round Table and everyone who organised and attended the fun day.

She added: "You all mean a lot to me and Kayleigh."

Kayleighanne's final chemotherapy sessions is scheduled for June 27.

If follows on from chemotherapy and radiotherapy she endured last year - but unfortunately the cancer has returned.

Paula added: "She was diagnosed with cervical cancer year ago. She had chemo and radio last year but at Christmas we found out it was incurable she got two years to live. She is still having chemo every three weeks and she lost her hair on Sunday.

"She is a single mother and her kids are devastated that their mummy is poorly."
