A WOMAN in her 40s has suffered life-changing injuries after being struck by a train.
The woman was taken to hospital after being freed from beneath the train at Bache station on Mill Lane just after 7pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 4).
British Transport Police, along with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance, attended the scene close to the entrance to the Morrisons supermarket.
Firefighters used a scoop stretcher to recover the woman.
A Cheshire Fire & Rescue spokesman said: "Crews attended the scene and assisted medical professionals. They then used a scoop stretcher to assist with the recovery of the person, who was then passed to the care of paramedics."
Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour and half.
The incident disrupted train services on the Chester line.
Following the incident, a Merseyrail spokesman said: "Train services to Chester may be terminated at and started back from Hooton.
"Replacement road transport services are conveying passengers between Hooton and Chester in both directions until further notice."
