TWO pupils of an Ellesmere Port primary school showed they have an eye for design after winning a clothing competition.

The T-shirt design contest, judged by outdoor wear retailer Regatta Great Outdoors, saw Wolverham Primary pupils Sian Byrne and Skye Hodson triumph.

Staff from Regatta’s global logistics centre in Ellesmere Port recently participated in Passion for Learning’s ground-breaking Careers Palace event in Christleton, Chester, bringing to life the world of work for the 171 children who attended.

Goranka Bosanac, HR business partner at Regatta, said: "We are pleased and proud to have taken part in the Careers Palace and glad to hear that the children got so much out of the experience.

"We were happy to see so many children wanting to draw a design for a T-shirt, some of them drew more than one design.

"Picking the winners was not easy, so we distributed prizes to a number of children who we felt deserved special recognition for their design."

Regatta Great Outdoors partner with Ellesmere Port-based Passion for Learning to provide sponsorship for one of the Enrichment Clubs based in the town, which has already had a major impact on the children attending.

Diane Clark, managing director and founder of Passion for Learning, added: "We are so appreciative of the Regatta team’s commitment to our work in the community.

"Having the opportunity to partner with major businesses who are a key part of our local economy means that we can bring experiences and insights to the children we work with, which they would never otherwise have the chance to encounter."

Viv Couche, development manager at Passion for Learning, concluded: "The Regatta team brought some fabulous equipment and so much enthusiasm to our Careers Palace in March, their T-shirt design competition was really popular with the children.

"Distributing the prizes and seeing the children’s reactions has been a real privilege for our whole team. We hope that the partnership with Regatta will continue to grow from strength to strength."
