A COUNTRY park has appealed for help to retrieve the body of a swan found dead in Greenfield.

Greenfield Valley Museum Heritage Park have confirmed that the animal was found dead in the park and are looking for a safe way to be able to remove it.

In a social media post, a spokesman said: “We are sad to say that a swan has died on Flour Mill Pond at Greenfield. We are trying to find a way to retrieve it.

“If anyone think that they might be able to help us we would be grateful if you could get in touch.”

Once retrieved, the park has said they will investigate how the bird died.

Speaking to the Leader, another spokesman added: “We confirm that we are aware of the swan and are looking into how we can retrieve the body safely and as soon as possible.

“We are approaching with caution due to the fact there have been fatalities in the water.”
