A MULTI-AWARD winning restaurant in Wrexham has served its last meal after announcing its immediate closure.

Machine House, which is based in the village of Rossett, was named Restaurant of the Year for Wales 2018-19 at the AA Hospitality Awards and is also recommended in the prestigious Michelin guide.

Owner and head chef Kevin Lynn made the announcement via the eatery's social media accounts last week that the last service would take place on Saturday, May 18.

A post said: "So its our last service on Saturday evening. I've had an amazing journey meeting so many amazing people who have become great friends and almost like family.

"So many memories. It's been an amazing journey meeting so many amazing people, receiving award after award for something I love to do.

"You guys made this such an enjoyable experience for me, I will never forget this and what we have achieved here.

"Thank you Wales you have been amazing."

After the restaurant won the AA award in September, Mr Lynn had told the Leader how the success of the restaurant had put Rossett on the culinary map and that Wales was a chef's natural larder and there to be exploited.

He added: "Having worked in Cheshire, Manchester, London, Devon and Somerset, I have always been drawn to more rural areas because I believe there are a wider variety of local, artisan suppliers."
