THE ROODEE was awash with colour - and more than its fair share of rain - for Ladies Day at Chester Races.

The second day of the Boodles May Festival is as much about people dressed in their finery as the horses in the races, and hundreds of women wearing their best frocks attended.

There were some breath-taking dresses and hats being worn by ladies who, as the old saying goes, refused to let the rain dampen their spirits.

The Ormonde and Dee Stakes were the feature races of the day.
