A NEW care home in Chester has announced the appointment of its home manager.

Care UK has appointed Sally Cooper as home manager at Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, Huntington.

Sally will lead the team at the new care home when it opens this winter, having previously spent over 16 years working within the care sector.

After qualifying as a registered general nurse in 2003, Sally worked in the Countess of Chester Hospital for three years.

Joining Care UK in 2007 at Pinetum, she was quickly promoted to senior nurse. After leaving in 2013, to manage community-based high dependency patients, she returned to Pinetum in 2015 as deputy manager – and was promoted to manager just a year later.

After leading the team at Pinetum for four years, Sally’s new position will see her take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the new care home, which will accommodate up to 58 residents.

Sally has focused her approach to management on developing the teams she leads, ensuring everyone is confident in providing the very best care, and residents are supported to live independent and fulfilled lives.

Commenting on her new position, Sally said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the home manager at Deewater Grange, and I am excited to lead a skilled and supportive team when we open the doors later this year.

“To be a successful home manager you need to be level headed, a good listener and motivate those around you to do their best, and go the extra mile to really make a difference to residents’ lives and wellbeing.

"More than anything, I am excited to get to know and spend time with the residents and find out what they enjoy, and how they would like the home to be run to ensure it’s a place they love to live. I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter here in Chester.”

Margaret Bustard, regional director at Care UK, said: “The arrival of Deewater Grange to Chester represents an important investment for Care UK, and we’re thrilled to have Sally on board. Every detail has been considered to provide the highest standards of care, but having the right people working in the home is key to the overall experience of residents.

“Sally is a highly experienced, motivated individual and has a successful track record in her career to date. I know she will play an important part in driving standards to ensure Deewater Grange builds a reputation for quality, person-centred care.”

Deewater Grange will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities, and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.

The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room.
