CHESTER'S MP has been to help toast a successful city pub's revamp.

Chris Matheson MP joined brothers Joe and Chris Farmer and staff at The Bouverie in the Garden Quarter to celebrate the success of a £300,000 joint investment by Star Pubs & Bars and Joe, the creation of four new jobs, and a boost to the Garden Quarter.

The investment saw the interior upgraded, creating a more luxurious look and feel and increased capacity, enabling The Bouverie to focus more on food.

The outside was also given an upgrade in keeping with the new interior.

Since reopening on March 15, trade at the pub has increased significantly, with a greater number of the local community now using the pub, and it’s attracting people from further afield.

Joe Farmer said: “The refurbishment has been really good. Trade has grown and staff hours have increased so everyone is delighted.

"With more people using the pub, it’s lifted the area - proof of the potential of The Garden Quarter.

“We want to do the area proud and so are focused on providing a top-quality experience.

"It’s been a real team effort with the hard graft put in by Chris and the staff to make it all possible. So, thank you to them and also to the local community for all their support.

"It puts a smile on your face to see happy customers and confirmation that we’re on the right track.”

Mr Matheson added: “It was a pleasure to visit The Bouverie and meet Joe and Chris and all the staff.

"It has been great to see first-hand how the investment has taken The Bouverie to a new level, as well as providing more than 10 jobs in the constituency. Pubs bring communities together and help invigorate local economies, and investment helps them to continue to evolve with their communities, securing them for the long term.

"I would like to wish the team at The Bouverie all the best for the future.”
