A TOP tennis coach will be giving ace advice to youngsters at a Chester tennis club in the next few weeks.

Hoole at Mickle Trafford Lawn Tennis Club has been selected by the Lawn Tennis Association to host the Tennis Roadshow for local Key Stage 1 schoolchildren to promote the sport, increase participation and make tennis fun.

The roadshow will be run by Phil Leighton, who works regularly with GB captains Leon Smith and Judy Murray, and is widely regarded as the country’s best tennis coach.

Phil is passionate about giving children the opportunity to play tennis, no matter what their background, and has encouraged thousands of children to take up the game via his roadshow and Tennis for Kids packages.

Phil will be going into local schools from Monday next week (April 29) to encourage kids to come along to give tennis a try during a day of activities at Hoole at Mickle Trafford Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday, May 4.

The fun, fast-paced and action-packed 90-minute sessions by Phil and the 10 club helpers are free, with one in the morning (10.30am-noon) and one in the afternoon (2pm-3.30pm), and will keep up to 150 children entertained in each session.

There is no need to book as the club can accommodate everyone, and there will be tennis activities to keep older siblings entertained.

Tennis for Kids programmes are subsequently available should children want to carry on. They include six weeks of coaching, a brand new racket, a personalised T-shirt and some balls to keep, collectively priced £29.99.

The club is looking forward to welcoming parents and children along to enjoy the new facilities.

Helsby Lawn Tennis Club is excited to announce that it too has been selected as a roadshow venue and Phil and his team will be visiting schools in the Helsby area to encourage local schoolchildren to go along to their own activity day at Helsby LTC.
