The passenger, an 18-year-old man from Chester, was taken to Aintree University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Zach’s mum and dad said: “Our Zach died in a terrible car accident on April 17. We love him so very much like all parents love their kids.

"He was our life, it’s as simple as that, in our eyes he was perfect in every way.

“It has taken several days before we could write this because we couldn’t describe him in any words other than perfect.

“We thank the amazing number of friends who have expressed their love for Zach from around the world and they have given us the words and strength to write this tribute to our perfect son.

"So here are a few words that were said over and over again by the people he touched in his 20 years here on Earth – ‘My best friend, I loved him, always happy, full of life, will never to be forgotten, so talented, never a bad word about anybody, positive never negative.’

“We love you Zach, until we see you again, our angel. Love mum and dad.”
