GENEROUS slimmers in Flintshire and Chester have been donating the clothes that are now too big for them in support of Cancer Research UK, raising thousands in the process.

As part of the Big Golden Slimming World Clothes Throw, members of local Slimming World groups were invited to donate the clothes, shoes, bags and accessories they feel confident they will no longer need to Cancer Research UK shops.

Tracey Evans, Slimming World’s area manager for North Wales and South Cheshire, said: “Each recyclable bag is worth around £25 to Cancer Research UK once filled and, as a team, we have collected 540 bags which are worth £13,500 in total.

“I am very proud of what all the groups have achieved. It is great for them to feel so confident they can throw these clothes away; and all for a good cause too.”

To celebrate Slimming World’s 50th birthday, members were in with a chance of finding a special golden bag from their group.

Three members have found one of the special bags and have been entered into a national prize draw to win a personal styling experience and shopping trip in London.

The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw aims to increase awareness of how keeping a healthy weight reduces the risk of developing some types of cancer and last year raised more than £3million nationally.
