THE second multi-vehicle collision on the same stretch of the M56 motorway between junctions 14 (Hapsford) and 12 (Runcorn) in 24 hours has caused commuters delays of up to 90 minutes this morning (Tuesday, April 9).
The incident, involving a black Volkswagen and a blue Ford transit, was reported on the westbound carriageway just after 8am and required police, fire, ambulance and highways teams to attend and clear the vehicles involved from lanes two and three of the motorway.
Highways England has reported the incident has now cleared but motorists are warned to expect 90 minutes of delays if travelling Chester-bound, with delays of 40 minutes for those travelling in the direction of Runcorn.
No injuries have been reported.
