FAMILIES can learn more about healthy eating and cooking on a budget at the second annual Blacon Food Festival.

The free event is taking place at Blacon Adventure Playground, in Kipling Road, from 1-4pm on Wednesday, April 10.

Organised by Avenue Services, the festival will offer people of all ages the chance to have fun with food and take part in a wide variety of activities.

Visitors will be able to take part in campfire cooking, sample some tasty treats from around the world and learn how to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

Other attractions will include a smoothie bike, bread making and cake decorating, while families will also be able to find out more about the history of Blacon Adventure Playground, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Sandra Hewitt, Blacon Adventure Playground manager, said: “Our inaugural food festival was a huge success and there was a real appetite among residents in Blacon for it to return.

“Eating healthily is very important and this will be a great opportunity for local families to have a fun day out and find out how they can make their meals and money go further.”
