A DISCARDED cigarette was the cause of a fire outside a Chester city centre shop.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service had to be called out to the scene in Frodsham Street at 5.13pm on Sunday, March 31.
One fire engine attended from Chester and one from Powey Lane.
Crews found a small fire in a wood panel outside a shop on the street which had been started by a discarded cigarette. Crews used a hose reel jet a large fan to tackle the fire.
Crews were at the scene for an hour and 30 minutes.
