A NEW £8.6m development of family homes in Ellesmere Port has been completed ahead of schedule.

Named Oakley Park, it was delivered by Housing Association Plus Dane and Macbryde Homes and covers 12 acres on the outskirts of the town centre.

The scheme includes 67 new affordable family homes, some of which are available through the government- backed Help to Buy incentive, which allows eligible buyers to purchase a new home with just a five per cent deposit.

All other properties in the development are available for outright sale through Macbryde Homes.

Madeleine Nelson, Plus Dane’s executive director for growth, said: “We are proud to be able to offer such a high-quality range of much needed new and affordable homes.

“Oakley Park is the result of nearly ten years of collaboration between Plus Dane and Macbryde. Originally intended as a much smaller scheme, it became part of a longer-term strategy to bring much needed homes and investment to the Ellesmere Port area.”

The development was scheduled for completion this March, but was finished ahead of time in December last year, and some of the residents are already moving into their new homes.

Gwyn Jones, managing director of Macbryde Homes, said: “We are really pleased to have delivered this high-quality scheme of homes for Plus Dane ahead of schedule.

“The country urgently needs more quality new housing delivered through a blend of tenures and we are keen to partner with Plus Dane and others to repeat this model many times over.”

The £8.6m Oakley Park scheme was also supported by a £1.58 government grant from Homes England.

Sarah Hebron-Doran, Specialist in the Home Ownership and Supply team at Homes England, said: “This partnership is an excellent example of Homes England working with partners to deliver more homes faster, helping communities and providing affordable housing using funding from the Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme.

“We look forward to continuing our work in the North West to deliver more affordable homes in the future.”

Shared ownership and rent to buy homes are available through HomesHub https://www.homeshub.co.uk/our-homes/oakley-park/. The on-site show home is open every Saturday between 11am to 5pm.
