A PAEDOPHILE from Ellesmere Port has been fined for failing to confirm his address with police.
Kenneth Michael Johns, 66, is required to register his details with Cheshire Constabulary on February 1 every year as he is on the sex offenders register.
But he turned up to the town’s police station four days late this year and was charged with failing to comply with his notification requirements.
In interview he admitted the breach but claimed it was his understanding that he had to register by February 6 – the anniversary of his conviction for indecent images matters in 2014.
Defending at Chester Magistrates Court, Steven Alis said Johns accepted he had made a mistake.
The defendant, of Wellington Road North, was fined £160 and must also pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
He has 10 previous convictions for 36 offences.
