THOUSANDS of people across Chester, Ellesmere Port and Nest, and Weaver Vale have signed a petition to cancel Brexit.

The online petition is calling for the Government to revoke Article 50 as Theresa May appeals to EU leaders for a delay to Brexit.

Today, it had been signed by more than two and a half million people.

There was increased activity in signatures following the Prime Minister’s appeal to the public on Wednesday night.

In her statement, she blamed MPs for failing to implement the result of the 2016 EU referendum and told frustrated voters: “I am on your side.”

In the City of Chester, more than 2,500 people have signed the petition.

In Ellesmere Port and Neston, more than 1,200 have signed, while in Weaver Vale, which includes Frodsham and Helsby, more than 1,600 have called for the UK to remain in the UK.
