Wrexham town centre has been flooded with residents and visitors soaking up the sun and enjoying the various activities to celebrate the return of international football to the Racecourse.

Wrexham Museum has been attempting to get people in the mood for tonight’s big game against Trinidad and Tobago by showing off memorabilia of the Welsh National Team.

The Wales football team will return to play at the Racecourse in Wrexham tonight for the first in over 10 years with the last being a 3-0 win over Norway in February 2008.

To celebrate this, the museum on Regent Street is showing a selection of Welsh football memorabilia including a retro Wales shirt worn by current Wrexham assistant manager Brian Flynn in an international friendly against Scotland, as well as a shirt worn by the legendary John Charles in his debut against Ireland in a World Cup Qualifier at The Racecourse in 1950.

In addition to this, after a successful first visit in 2018, the Continental Street Market returned to Wrexham town centre for a first visit of 2019.

The event attracted a wave of people throughout the day, creating an atmosphere in the town centre before tonight’s eagerly awaited clash.

Matthew Hartwell, operations markets manager for RR Events, who organised the international market on the high street, praised the people of Wrexham for their enthusiasm and large turnout, as well as Wrexham Council for their help in making the event take place.

“We are very excited to return to Wrexham, after the success of the last event I think news has spread, and we have returned with a much better and bigger market, with an even wider variety of choices and options.

“Support for the public has been great for the first day and we hope that it only continues, and let’s hope the weather continues to be this nice as well.

“As always, the support of the Wrexham Borough Council has been tremendous in helping us deliver this event and we’d like to thank them for that.”
