ENVIRONMENT experts are investigating the extent of diesel pollution in Balderton Brook.
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) stated on Tuesday that its teams instigated clear up of red diesel affecting the brook, which runs through Saltney.
A spokesman for the organisation said there could be up to 1000 litres of the substance in the water, adding: "We have taken samples and trying to establish actual amount spilled."
Shaun Hingston, Youth Counciilor for Saltney, espressed his disgust at the news.
He said: "This is disgusting. Polluting our community is unacceptable and dangerous to people and local wildlife.
"The people responsible need to be prosecuted and our greenspaces and environment better maintained."
According to NRW, the water "will look/smell of fuel" but the investigators "don’t expect significant impact on wildlife and water quality."
