AN Ellesmere Port family were honoured to meet the Duchess of Cambridge as part of a St Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday.

Drummer David Murray is the Irish Guards mascot handler for Irish wolfhound Domhnall and, as part of the annual cultural and religious celebration, his partner Victoria Leighton and two daughters Isabelle, seven years, and Ivy, eight months, were invited down to see the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, celebrated the event at a traditional Irish Guards parade.

Prince William, who has been Colonel since 2011, paid a visit to the 1st Battalion's base in west London with Kate.

Isabelle even had the pleasure of meeting Kate alongside with her father.

Wearing an emerald Alexander McQueen coat, the Duchess pinned a traditional sprig of shamrock to the coat of Domhnall, who has been in the battalion since 2012.

Later, the Duchess and Prince William sipped a pint of Guinness while meeting members of the Irish Guards battalion.
