A Tarporley man has died following a four-car crash in Northwich.

Emergency services were called to Middlewich Road at around 2pm on Sunday, March 10 and one driver was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

The man – a 43-year-old from Tarporley – has since died.

A woman in one of the other cars was also taken to hospital as a precaution, and there are not thought to be any other injuries.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Officers attended and discovered that the collision involved four cars – a white Vauxhall Mokka, a black Toyota Corolla, a white BMW 530 and a black Audi A6.

"The road was closed as emergency services dealt with the incident.

"The driver of one of the cars, a 43-year-old man from Tarporley, was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital after being assessed by paramedics.

"Sadly, the man has since died. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers."
