A GROUP of bands and DJs will be giving up their time for free when they perform in Chester as part of their month-long fundraising tour.

March of the Mods will be at The Live Rooms on Saturday, March 23 from 7pm-1am and on Sunday, March 24, from 3pm-11pm.

A total of eight bands and two DJs, coming from Scotland, London, the Midlands, the Wirral, North Wales and Chester, are lined up to play over the weekend.

Over the six years the fundraiser has been running nationwide, the March of the Mods events have raised half a million pounds for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity, with last year's event raising £2,505 in Chester alone.

March of the Mods started in 2012 with 10 events in March. This year, there are 38 cities and towns up and down the country involved.

Saturday's bands are The Laynes, The Sha La Las and Skariad, while on the bill for Sunday are Kieron McManus, The Todfather, Five O'Clock Hero, The Republick and AKA Noel Gallagher.

DJs performing on both days are Mark Allan Jones and Paul Sollars, playing mod, ska, northern soul, new wave and Motown.

Tickets are priced £10 for Saturday and Sunday, or £15 to attend both days, with all proceeds to Teenage Cancer Trust.

There will also be a scooter ride out to The Live Rooms at 3pm on Sunday.

March of the Mods was inspired by bands such as The Who, Paul Weller and Oasis.
