CHESTER'S Grosvenor Shopping Centre has donated more than £3,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support after a year of fundraising activities.

The donation comes following an additional £2,000 which was previously raised throughout the year.

Last year saw the shopping centre hold a host of events to raise much-needed funds for the charity including a car boot sale, annual food fiesta and even saw staff taking part in Macmillan’s Northumberland Mighty Hike.

Additionally, Grosvenor Shopping Centre also donated 50p of every ticket bought for the Christmas Grotto to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Macmillan Cancer Support, which was named as the shopping centre’s charity of the year, aims to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can by providing practical, medical and financial support, as well as campaigning for change.

Julie Webb, manager of Grosvenor Shopping Centre, said: “We are so pleased to have been able to give such an impressive amount of money to Macmillan Cancer Support and would like to thank all who donated at our events throughout the year.”

Megan Kong, corporate fundraising manager for Cheshire, Merseyside, Wirral and Isle of Man at Macmillan Cancer Support, attended the presentation of the donation and said: “The funds raised by Grosvenor Shopping Centre will be vital for raising awareness and further helping people who have been affected by cancer.

“On behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support, we would like to thank the community of Chester for their kindness.”
