HANDBRIDGE resident Lisa Rossetti and her friend Rhiannon Taylor have launched a ‘Pink Poo’ campaign to encourage dog owners to respect the local area.

Highlighting the issue of dog fouling in the Chester suburb, Lisa, Rhiannon and a team of volunteers will next be taking to the streets on Saturdays on April 6, 13 and 20, spraying dog mess with pink, eco-friendly paint.

The pink poo will then be cleared by environmental services within 48 hours.

The initiative coincides with Cheshire West and Chester Council’s 'Love Your Streets' campaign to involve people, communities and residents in plans to improve the local environment.

Lisa said: "So many residents, parents and shoppers have complained to us about dog fouling. We've consulted with pedestrians, responsible dog owners and local schools too.

“We want to revitalise a sense of community spirit. So we decided to roll up our sleeves and run a Pink Poo campaign to encourage more local pride in our neighbourhood.”

Rhiannon added: “We hope the campaign will show local people the extent of the dog fouling problem in Handbridge, and make offenders think twice about polluting our pavements.

“We'll be out on your streets soon armed with pink spray to bring some love back to Handbridge! Come and help - the more the merrier!"
