A DRUGS manufacturing set-up was allegedly discovered at a property on Steam Mill Street in Chester yesterday.

It came after a man was stop-searched in the east of the county at around 4.30pm on Saturday, February 16, when officers saw him rolling a joint in his car.

Inspector Alex Cairns told The Standard that a routine search had then been carried out at his home address where a drugs manufacturing set up was said to be found.

He could not say what type of drugs were involved but confirmed fire service experts had carried out a check to make sure there were no potentially hazardous materials.

Police are now satisfied that there is no danger posed to emergency services or the public and an investigation is ongoing. Officers remain at the scene this morning (Sunday, February 17).

The man was originally arrested for possession of drugs and remains in police custody.

No further details are available at present.
