SOMEONE'S bed was on fire in Ellesmere Port on Valentine's Day evening - in a literal rather than romantic sense.
Firefighters were called to reports of a flaming mattress in the open on Luton Road at around 6.45pm on Thursday (February 14).
They spent around half an hour at the scene to make sure it was safe.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At around 6.45pm firefighters were called to a report of a mattress being on fire in the open on Luton Road in Ellesmere Port. The fire was out on arrival.
"Firefighters dampened the area down to make it safe and were in attendance for nearly half-an-hour."
