ATOMIC Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton dropped in to an Ellesmere Port mums group yesterday (Thursday, February 7).

The pop star, 36, joined members of Milestone Mums at Thelwall Road Community Centre to talk about her own experiences with mental health.

Set up and run by local mum Sarah Finlay, the group offers peer support for mothers with mental health issues.

Yesterday's event was part of the ‘Time to Talk’ day and mums and their little ones were invited to come along and chat to each other over tea and biscuits.

Natasha said: "What Sarah has put together for mums who may be struggling with pre or post natal mental health is fantastic.

"Creating a space where you can go while your baby plays and you can interact and talk with other mums who may be going through the same thing as you is invaluable.

"I wanted to show my support today because I have struggled with my mental heath during and after giving birth and a group like Milestone Mums takes away the isolation you can feel at home or being on your own.

"I wish her and the group all the success for the future."

Port councillor Nicole Meardon added: "It was inspiring to hear both Sarah and Natasha talk about their experiences. Mental health issues can happen to anyone and it’s so important to raise awareness of these issues and reduce the stigma around them."
