A CHARITY'S first ever fun run on its doorstep will cap off a green-themed week of fundraising next month.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is inviting fundraisers from across the region to take part in the all-new 3-2-1 Run Green event on Sunday, February 10 at its grounds in Wirral.

The course is an exclusive 2km run or walk around the grounds of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and will involve some fun elements for all the family.

The event is open to all levels of ability and will be the finale of the charity's annual Let’s Go Green week, when supporters across the area hold their own fundraising events.

Fundraisers can do the route as many times as they like – whether it's one lap or pushing themselves for an extra challenge and do as many as they can.

If that's not enough fun, the charity is adding a splash of colour to get extra messy.

Everyone is encouraged to dress in green clothes for the occasion, perhaps via green-themed costumes such as aliens, The Incredible Hulk or a Tinkerbell.

Adding to the green theme will be a Green Powder Paint Station situated out on the route ready to cover runners head to toe in green.

It will cost £7 for junior competitors and £12 for adults. The charity asks that everyone raises a minimum sponsorship of £25.

Everyone can take part, whether it's to celebrate a life, remember a loved one or just enjoy time with family and friends.

Once registered, a member of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity team will be in touch with final event day details and to provide a registration pack. T-shirts and wigs are available to buy through the website and on the day.

Mark Parkinson, event manager for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, said: “This is a unique opportunity for people to take part in a fun event right here in the grounds of our hospital.

“We hope that people of all ages and abilities will take part and enjoy a brilliant new event while raising money to help transform cancer care.”

The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is working to raise £15 million towards the construction of a new specialist hospital in Liverpool city centre and improvements to the Wirral site.
