TWO revellers have been left more than £1,000 out of pocket after they used homophobic language in a Chester pub.

Osian Roberts and Alex Thompson, both 26, were arrested following an incident at the Dublin Packet pub on Northgate Street in Chester on December 23 last year.

Roberts, of Hayes Crescent, Frodsham, pleaded guilty to using threatening words or behaviour and was fined £170. He also received a fine of £250 for possession of cocaine.

Thompson, who lives on the same road, pleaded guilty to using threatening words and behaviour and also admitted damaging two chairs in the pub.

He was fined £340 for the two offences and was also ordered to pay the pub’s owners £40 compensation.

Chester Magistrates Court heard both men had used homophobic language on a night that had proved “very expensive” for the pair.

They were each told to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge as well.
