A MAN and a woman said to have been out for a walk stole a gas bottle valued at £100 from a compound at the Go Outdoors store at Saltney.
But they could not say why they had done it, solicitor Stephen Edwards told North East Wales Magistrates’ Court at Mold.
Mother of four Toni Danielle Goode, 29, of Cliveden Road in Lache, Chester, and Darren Frances McGovern, 41, of Sycamore Drive, Lache, both admitted theft on December 10.
They were each fined £80 with £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.
Goode, who was dealt with in court first, was said to have four children aged 12, 10, four and two and was living with her mother.
Mr Edwards said she could give no real explanation why she had done it and put it down to bad company.
It was not her idea and she had gone along with it.
The gas bottle had been recovered.
Magistrates were told that McGovern, who was dealt with separately later, could not solve the mystery of why they should steal a gas bottle.
