TWO cold-callers took £100 from a Chester pensioner for gardening work - but never carried it out.
The incident happened on Butterbache Road in Huntington, on Tuesday, December 18. The fraudsters were both men and their victim was in her 80s.
Police in Chester are appealing for anyone who has information on the crime to contact them on 101 quoting reference IML 273060.
People have been voicing their shock on Facebook with one resident, Elva Williams, setting up a Go Fund Me page.
Elva said: "It’s really bad at any time but just before Christmas is disgusting."
Her page has already raised £120 for the elderly woman, thanks largely to a donation of £90 by one man.

Others have offered to carry out the gardening work for free.
