A MAN trapped beneath a train at Hooton Station has reportedly suffered life-changing injuries.
Emergency services were called to the station just before 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, December 20) after a man was hit by a train.
As a result, there was major disruption on Merseyrail services. All Chester and Ellesmere Port services terminated at Rock Ferry.
Network Rail have was informed of the disruption.
A spokesman for Merseyrail tweeted: "Due to a person being struck by a train at Hooton all services on the Chester and Ellesmere Port lines are starting & terminating at Rock Ferry. A rail replacement bus service has been requested but is not yet in operation. Further information will be announced once available."
Merseyrail announced that the lines had reopened at 8pm.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters had to release the man who was trapped beneath the train.
A spokesman said: "The team used specialist equipment to release the casualty.
"He was then passed to the care of the HART team from North West Ambulance Service to release the casualty.
"Firefighters were detained at the scene for approximately one hour."
