FOUR people have been arrested as part of drugs crackdown in Ellesmere Port

Police officers made the arrests after conducting a series of raids as part of a continuing crackdown on illegal drugs.

Two women - aged 36 and 41 - and two men - aged 29 and 39 - were arrested on suspicion of drug offences earlier today (Wednesday, December 19) after warrants were executed on Alnwick Drive and Park Lane.

Officers carrying out the raids recovered a quantity of illicit drugs. They also recovered a weapon resembling a police baton.

Detective Sergeant Paul Davis said: “The corrosive effect that drug abuse and associated criminality has on our communities is well known. We are committed to tackling the problem and targeting those involved.

“Today’s drugs raids reinforce our commitment to targeting those people who undermine our communities and bring misery to residents through their involvement in organised crime and illegal drugs.

“This is an issue that can have a major impact on local communities. The force takes it extremely seriously and we devote all the resources we can to tracing those responsible and disrupting their behaviour.

“Information from members of the public is vital in the fight against drug related crime and I urge anyone with any information in relation to drug use and supply in our communities to get in touch on 101.

“Alternatively information can be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
