A MOUNTAINEER from Coedpoeth has returned from the Himalayas where he led a team to the summit of a previously unclimbed mountain.

Brian Jackson, director of Expedition Wise Ltd, which is based in Brymbo, led a small team as they trekked 12 days to basecamp before attempting to summit a mountain that has never been climbed before. Located in the Rolwaling Valley of Nepal, Korlang Pari Tippa North stands at 5,574m on the border of Nepal and Tibet.

Shortly before 9.30am on Sunday, November 25, the team reached the summit of Korlang Pari Tippa North.

The ascent was challenging due to the rocky terrain but the views were phenomenal with Everest, Shishapangma and Lhotse in clear sight.

This would prove to be Brian’s sixth successful first ascent of an unclimbed peak since he started the expeditions five years ago.

Throughout the years he has taken on the challenge in aid of many great causes, raising thousands for charities such as Nightingale House Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer UK and ShelterBox.

Brian said: “It’s hard to believe that five years of unclimbed peaks expeditions have passed by already.

"I climbed my first unclimbed peak in 2013, a dream I had had since I was eight years old.

"Helping others to achieve the dream for themselves has been the pinnacle and it’s fantastic that a huge amount has been raised for a variety of charities by participants on the expeditions over the years.”
