WHITBY House Care Home in Ellesmere Port hosted a special celebration to remember lost loved ones.

The home, on Pooltown Road, organises an annual get-together for families and friends to remember those who have passed away throughout the year.

Guests are encouraged to light a candle and write messages to hang on a Christmas tree.

Sylvia from the Sunshine Singers said prayers, Rose Williams and her daughter Emily sang Christmas carols, and the care home served cheese and wine.

The event, which is in its third year, has proved to be popular, and friends and families are invited to return the following year.

Angela Earlam, home manager at Whitby House Care Home, said: “Christmas can be a very happy time for families but it is also a time for remembering loved ones who are no longer with us.

“Hosting an annual event which allows everyone to write messages, light candles and celebrate these special people has proved to popular and there has been a good turnout at the last couple of events.

"We share stories and reflect on the past year in a supportive environment where people can relate to one another.

“The event is now in its third year and we will continue to host it, anyone is welcome to join us.”
