A CELEBRATION event was held to thank local volunteers for their work in their community.

Directors of RainbowBiz organised the festive ‘thank you’ event and about 50 volunteers turned up to enjoy the evening.

Sue Oliver said: “I’m immensely proud of all the volunteers and also proud of RainbowBiz because it was able to put on such a fantastic event.

“It was such a laugh, everyone -young and old - loved it. I’ve got some real proud moments from RainbowBiz and that’s got to be up there.

RainbowBiz itself is growing and we are looking forward to 2019 and seeing what incredible ideas we’ve got planned.”

The social enterprise aims to promote equality and diversity and helps adults with additional needs.

Certificates were made for each volunteer and were given out by Lord Barry Jones.

Sarah Way, director, said attendees enjoyed a night of karaoke, Christmas crafts and a buffet and Baxter the Bear from Shotton Job Centre also made an appearance.

She added: “It was to celebrate our volunteers and thank them for the work they have done and it was quite festive too. It was like an awards ceremony. We wanted to reward them for all their hard work.”
