A WIRRAL woman inspired by her husband's heart surgery has raised money for the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Diane Allen, of Parkgate, was inspired by her husband Mike undergoing hours of open heart surgery to begin her own journey to health and wellness.

Diane’s husband needed mitral valve surgery at Broadgreen Hospital in Liverpool and then was transferred to the Countess of Chester Hospital for rehabilitation.

Mike used many of the Countess' exercise machines to monitor his heart. It was during one of these visits that Diane realised that the equipment available was limited and outdated.

The staff were so kind, patient, friendly and alleviated the stress during a difficult time that Diane was inspired to help in any way she could.

Diane and her friend Ray Williams, who had recently been inspired by Diane to join WW (Weight Watchers) at Thornton Hough both committed to losing weight in a sponsored slim to raise funds for the centre as well as improving their own health.

Diane has lost 23lbs so far

Diane loves the WW Freestyle plan that allows her to carry on living life to the full, including a holiday with her husband now that he’s in good health since his op.

She appreciatess the support given to her by her wellness coach Rachel Fisher and the members at her Workshop in Thornton Hough on Fridays at 10.15am. Diane has created healthy habits for real life using the Freestyle plan.

So far, Diane and Ray have raised just over £500 and Diane alone has lost 23lbs.
