DOZENS of people queued up to welcome the Coca Cola Christmas truck in Queensferry.

The iconic truck is parked at the Asda carpark and over 4,000 people are expected to attend throughout the course of the day.

People came from far and wide to join in on the event and kick-start the festive season, with people queuing from as early as 11am.

Dean Leonard, event manager along with Jordan Sail, said: "We are buzzing today, we've got this down to a fine art.

"The best thing is fulfilling peoples dream. You get so many people coming down here.

"We saw a terminally ill lady the other day who told us she had ticked it off her bucket list. People have been coming from far and wide, all over the world. The distance people travel is immense."

The truck will be there until 8pm tonight and organisers aim to promote recycling.

The Leader:

In a glittering winter wonderland setting, visitors are able to enjoy a small can of Coca-Cola zero sugar, Diet Coke or Coca-Cola original taste at each stop and recycling is encouraged.

Cheryl Woodfin, who visited with her young daughter Sienna-Blu, said: "It's been amazing. It's the first time we've come to see the truck and it's lovely. I didn't know what to expect but it hasn't disappointed."

Over the last eight years the popular truck tour has seen thousands of Christmas fans visit the famous vehicle.

The Leader:

It has travelled more than 737,000 miles – the equivalent of 29 times around the world – twinkling its 8,772 fairy lights and playing the iconic ‘Holidays are Coming’ jingle.

Veronica Jones, who travelled from Wrexham, said it was worth the travelling to see the iconic truck.

Mark Woodroffe, staff member, added: "It's so good seeing everyone's smiley faces. Everyone has been excited and singing along to the music and they couldn't wait to get started.

"I've been part of it for ten years and it never gets boring. Every day is different."

Motorists have been warned of busy traffic along the A494 and Traffic Wales tweeted: "Remember the Coca Cola truck will be visiting #Queensferry today!

"We are expecting the roads to be extremely busy, especially the A494 and surrounding areas.

"Please plan ahead and leave extra time."

Jordan Sail added: "Avoid the A494 if you can because if it gets too busy we've been told the council will shut us down. If people know of any alternative routes then please use them."
