AN eight-year-old girl’s letter of apology to Cheshire Police officers has brought social media users to tears.

Cheshire Police shared the letter from the eight-year-old on their twitter account today.

In the letter, the unnamed girl apologises to the police for running away.

She says she knows she worried her mum and dad and scared her sister.

She says: “I’m sorry that I wasted your time. I feel really bad for doing it."

She ends her letter thanking the police, saying: “PS thank you for keeping everyone safe.”

Cheshire Police thanked the girl for her letter.

A spokesman said: “We’ve just received this lovely letter from a young lady aged 8.

“Forgiveness on our part is not required here, but if you’re reading this we offer it nonetheless and thank you for your kind words which mean so much to us.

“Have a safe and happy end to the year.”

Twitter users have praised the girl and her family.

Sue Lees said: “Thanks should go to the parents/guardians who are trying to instil the girl about responsibility for actions.”
